I'm Ingunn. This blog is about learning to make photos instead of just taking them. This is where I collect and express ideas and thoughts, and sometimes I might get sidetracked, too! There is so much to be learned. I have an urge for making life better, simpler and tastier. My picture galleries are in the sections travel and portfolio. I write in English, but I am Norwegian, and comments are most welcome in both languages.

Lomography | Holga is fun!

 Photo: Idun

While in New York I bought Holga cameras for my daughters as they are all rather interested in lomography. What a contradiction this is  - they all have digital SLRs, too, but now the fun lies with the quirky images produced analogically in leaky plastic cameras. The advantage of the cameras I bought is the fact that they use 35mm film instead of 120mm film. 35mm is a lot less expensive to process. Cameras that use 120mm are for example the Diana+ or the original Holga. These plastic cameras are also very simple to use, and the Holgas lend themselves easily to double exposures as the one you see here, made very successfully by my youngest daughter. If you don't know much about Holga cameras I recommend that you read about them, because this is really fun stuff! Forget everything about flawless photograpy, because this is about composition, colors, light and quirky angles. Leaks and dust comes with the territory and is in fact a desired effect. I want to try this myself, too, along with practising my iPhoneology more which is developing very slowly at the moment. So little time!
