I'm Ingunn. This blog is about learning to make photos instead of just taking them. This is where I collect and express ideas and thoughts, and sometimes I might get sidetracked, too! There is so much to be learned. I have an urge for making life better, simpler and tastier. My picture galleries are in the sections travel and portfolio. I write in English, but I am Norwegian, and comments are most welcome in both languages.

Sense and Sensibility in Devon

This Summer Little Sister, Middle Sister and me took a day trip to the location for the BBC series based on Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility, the 2008 version. We found it purely by accident on the Internet, and decided right away that we had to see it. It is a hidden gem, tucked away at the wild coast of North Devon. It was every bit as romantic and beautiful as we thought, and I'm so glad we went. Rather reluctantly I'm giving away the adress because I would be very sad to see this secluded spot ruined by too many tourists. The location is at an estate called Hartland Abbey, west of Bideford and Barnstaple in Devon.

Travelling in 2012

I always hope for new adventures, and most likely I will experience quite a few the coming year, too. In March I am going to Lisbon for a few days on business. A lot of work must be done while I'm there, but I hope for a few hours to take pictures, too. Lisbon is a wonderful place - I was there in 2009 and have always wanted to go back. If everything goes my way in June, I'll be heading for San Diego to visit a huge edu-conference. San Diego is for sure an exciting place, who knows what I'll see there- and we might even manage to get a day or two in Mexico as well?!

Best of all, though, my holiday will also this year be spent in France, in Languedoc-Rousillon, at my beloved La Fauvelle of course, and in Collioure, the most picturesque little fisherman's village one can imagine. We've rented a small house there, only a few meters from the beach, shops and cafes. It will be lovely for sure. By the way: Did you notice that the La Fauvelle site has many of my photos on it? I'm very proud!

Besides, I will be travelling in Norway to visit my family of course. I haven't been up north for three years now, and I really hope for an opportunity this year.

All the images you can see here are taken in the region of Languedoc-Rousillon during our trips in 2010 and 2011. I recommend a view in the gallery to do them more justice. Click on the first one to enter the lightbox.

Fall has entered the stage

After weeks and weeks of pouring rain we are now blessed with nice weather again, with soft, low sun and pleasing temperatures. The fall colors have been absent so far this season, but now they're entering the scene, finally. The past few weeks have been busy for me, so my camera has been collecting more dust than images. However, by the end of the week I'm joining a class in creative photography and post-production, and I can't wait to begin! I have high expectations and long for a much needed input and refreshed inspiration.

Another treat is that my dad has been visiting, and he's by far the one in my family that I share my passion for photography with. We've had a couple of walks and tested some new gear, and we got a few nice ambient shots. I'm challenging myself to go wider, so I only brought a 28mm prime lens this time. It is promising, but tricky to get good results. I like that. All in all, a very good weekend is about to end.
